Search and Rescue Assists in Fire Evacuations - Friday, August 27, 2010
Lyle, WA - Klickitat County Search and Rescue members were asked to assist when the "Old Highway 8 Complex" fire broke out on Thursday, 8/26/2010.  
Thursday afternoon, several Search and Rescue members manned the Department of Emergency Management's Communications van, providing communications and relay capabilities to the firefighters and other first responders.
Thursday night, approximately 10 additional members responded to assist the Sheriff's Office in notifying residents in the High Prairie area of a potential evacuation order.
On Friday night, the 27th, Search and Rescue members were again called on and responded to notify residents in the Appleton area of mandatory evacuation orders.
Additional information may be requested from the Klickitat County Sheriff. 
Klickitat County SAR attends state conference - Sunday, May 23, 2010
Jeff King receives SAR Liason awardStevenson, WA –  17 volunteer members of Klickitat County Search and Rescue attended this year's WA State Search and Rescue Conference May 21 – 23 inStevenson, taking classes ranging from Lost Person Behavior, tracking, to helicopter safety.  The conference was held in nearby Skamania County, hosted by the Skamania County Sheriff's Office and Wind River Rescue, and attended by over 650 SAR personnel from around the state and region.  

One highlight was that Jeff King, Klickitat County Sheriff's SAR Coordinator was awarded the state “Search and Rescue Deputy/Liaison Award” from the Search and Rescue Volunteer Advisory Council (SARVAC) for his tireless dedication and professionalism.
